Is Faith like a raincoat?

The word faith is derived from the Latin word fides which is one of my favorite Latin words!

Fun fact, I love Latin – took 4 years in high school and 3 in college. Faith is the confidence or trust in a person, thing, or concept…i.e. believing without proof.

“Faith is not like a raincoat, only to be worn on drizzly days.”
― Kevin Ansbro, The Fish That Climbed a Tree

I struggle with my faith. Faith can be hard. As humans we are asked to have faith in everything. Faith that our car will start. Faith that our taxes will arrive in time. Faith in our spouse. Faith that the mistakes our children make won’t be detrimental. Faith that science is, in fact, real. Faith that the sun will come up tomorrow. Faith that there is life beyond this one.

Let’s be honest, this human thing requires a daily leap of faith, regardless of your God.

Ram Navami, Ramadan, Easter and Passover will all be celebrated in April this year. What better time than to share our own stories about our faith.

May your faith be strong. May you trust in yourself and find peace along your path. And may you live well.

Happy April!
