It is not often in our mid-40s that we look at our lives, say we want a change, and actually change.

My job was just a job. I worked at the first office of our elementary school. I had summers off, home with my kids before dinner. It was pretty cake, and I was bored. There was no challenge. So I quit. I went back to school. I work with premature babies. Every day is a challenge. Every day I have to be brave enough to face a 2 lb. baby that may not be having its best day. Their parent may be having their worst.

It’s a challenge. It requires bravery daily. I love it.
