I write all kinds of things. Everything from picture books to essays about cancer, but one thing that all my writing has in common is brevity.
“The simpler you say it, the more eloquent it is.”August Wilson
The first thing I published were two picture books. The first of which was loosely based on my daughter, Mackenzi, and a real day in the life of my precocious 4 year old and our family dog, Max. I loved living that day and loved even more writing about it.
And as life evolved from hunting frogs, to my mundane things like Alzheimer’s, cancer and adult children, my writing evolved from children’s fiction to nonfiction. Content writing might seem boring, but I love the challenge of writing with word count limitations and for a particular audience. It’s like putting together a puzzle one word at a time.
And, of course, I write letters weekly for Dear John,.
“I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine.”Emily Dickinson

Email is the best way. It’s like letter writing but in real time and without a stamp.
